More About In a Heartbeat Emergency Training Services
In a Heartbeat has been providing training to youth in various capacities since 2016 and have recently expanded our services beyond Home Alone and Babysitter certification to include Emergency and Standard First Aid training to youth and other community members.
We believe in providing an inclusive environment that supports all learners and we encourage you to advise us of any learning supports you or your child might require.
Our courses are very interactive, and are available in the HRM and surrounding areas. Home Alone is offered to children in grades 4-6 and Babysitter is available to those in grade 6 and up. Our first aid & CPR courses are available to anyone eligible for the Babysitter training and up.
In a Heartbeat uses the Canada Safety Council and the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada Curriculum for our training courses. We are taking registration for the following dates:

GOOD NEWS! This year, we have decided to offer an annual graduation prize at Charles P. Allen High School! 2025 saw the first of our
participants finishing high school and and we wanted to give back to those who supported In a Heartbeat over the years!
We saw our first recipient of the In a Heartbeat Emergency Services "Heart of the Community" award walk across the stage and
it was a proud moment for us! Congratulations to Lucky Khokhar! We wish you all the best in your future endeavours, Lucky!
This is an annual bursary, so CPA grads should apply in the spring through the awards application process at your guidance office!
